Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who recently retired from Test cricket, will continue to hold their Grade A+ central contracts for the 2024/25 season, as confirmed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. Despite stepping away from Tests and earlier from T20Is, both players remain part of the Indian ODI squad, making them eligible for all the benefits and facilities associated with the A+ category for the current contract cycle.

"Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's grade A contract will continue despite their retirement from the T20Is and Tests. They are still part of the Indian cricket team, and they will get all the facilities of Grade A ," Devajit Saikia told ANI.

The BCCI announced its annual player retainership list in April 2025, which included Kohli, Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja in the Grade A+ bracket. Traditionally, the A+ category is reserved for players active in all three formats, but the board has chosen to retain Kohli and Rohit in the top tier for this cycle, recognising their ongoing contributions and stature within the team.
