It’s all done and dusted for Fatima Sana-led Pakistan Women, who, after winning all their games in the ongoing Women’s World Cup Qualifier, became the first team to qualify for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which is set to take place in India from 29 September to 26 October 2025. However, Pakistan will not be travelling to India. In fact, their qualification has confirmed that the tournament will be held in a hybrid model.
But why? Well, just a few months ago, when both the boards, BCCI and PCB, were discussing the Champions Trophy venue and India was adamant about not travelling to Pakistan, the hybrid model came into the picture. Then, the PCB demanded that the hybrid model be applied reciprocally for future ICC tournaments hosted by India. This means Pakistan should have the option to play its matches at neutral venues outside India under similar circumstances in upcoming events, at least until 2027 or possibly until 2031, when the current ICC tournament cycle ends.
And now that's why For the Women’s World Cup in 2025, Pakistan won’t travel to India. Instead, their matches will be held in a neutral venue like Sri Lanka or the UAE (Dubai). Other participating teams scheduled to play against Pakistan will also travel to these neutral venues. Meanwhile, India will host the rest of the tournament on home soil.
