Pilgao farmers express dissatisfaction over Vedanta layoff issues remains unresolved

BICHOLIM: The issues faced by farmers in Sarmanas Pilgaon and the workers laid off by Vedanta Company remain unresolved. On Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced a settlement offering workers 35 days of gratuity annually instead of 15 days. Mayem MLA Premendra Shet stated that discussions with the company management regarding farmers' concerns are ongoing. However, farmers expressed dissatisfaction, emphasizing they would not accept verbal compensation rates and demanded written guarantees.
