Request to RBI

Recently there was good news to PMC Bank customers that they can withdraw Rs 1 lakh now (Herald 20th June). Before the withdrawal limit was Rs 50,000, thanks to RBI. I plead with RBI to have mercy on Madgaon Cooperative Bank also and hand our hard owned money that is blocked for years now. Please allow a limit of Rs 1 lakh at the least.

Since this pandemic is going on, most of the businesses are closed or severely affected and are on the verge of closing down. Businesses not  only have their family to feed but also the employees family to feed i:e with one arrow you are striking at 2 birds. We are stuck indoors with no jobs, no money, no honey.

Thus, I request RBI to please allow us to withdraw some amount of cash from Madgaon Urban Cooperative Bank.

Why the sudden hike in power bill?

The common man has been suffering tremendously in various ways due to the coronavirus pandemic and to add to the already existing worry is the electricity bill. Everyone around has been complaining about the sudden increase in electricity bills even though the consumption has been the same throughout.

On approaching the electricity department, citizens have been given nonsensical answers. I personally have seen people crying their eyes out about how to pay such huge amounts and why only now the bills have a threefold increase. I believe that it would've made a lot of sense if the government had slightly reduced the amount to be paid considering the situation and the problems people have been facing due to the same, instead of asking them to simply pay massive amounts, which instantly put everyone in a state of shock.

I request the concerned authorities to look into the matter keeping in mind the hardships of people during these times and sought the issue at the earliest.

Are Goans not scared?

The statement made by the Goa CM that Goans not scared is a foolish assumption on his part. It is his stupidity which has put all Goans at risk of losing our lives only for his greed to hold on to his chair and obey his equally foolish masters in Delhi who now have the dubious distinction of taking India in the third place of highest Covid cases worldwide.

Restriction on entry to market place

Considering the spike in COVID-19 cases in the State, it is understood that Goa Bagayatdar, having a chain of stores across the State, has decided to put ‘restriction’ on the entry of customers at it’s outlets and the customers will be provided with their items by the Bagayatdar workers as per the list provided by them.

It is observed that most of the shop-owners have also resorted to restricting entry in the premises by tying a rope at the entrance and the customers are provided the goods they buy at the entrance itself. With the public presumably taking the coronavirus pandemic lightly and not adhering to social distancing, this seems to be a step in the right direction. However it must be said that it does not suffice to take precautions at some places and social distancing not maintained in other places of the market. It is observed that there is a lot of crowding at the fish-market, the vegetable and fruit market where social distancing may not be possible. Desperate situations call for desperate measures.

It would be desirable to restrict the number of people entering the fish, vegetable and fruit market by keeping only one entry and one exit-point open and monitoring the number of people entering the market so that it does not get overcrowded. Such a step may be necessary till such time that the number of positive cases reported in the state comes down drastically.

Take a leaf!

In the past few days we have witnessed an abrupt rise in all types of fuel prices burdening the common man even more in this present pandemic crisis. And to my utter surprise the electricity bill has sky-rocketed to give us the shock of our life. Knowing well of our unemployment status, our government is not at all cooperative in supporting its own people. But a State like Kerala has waived off 50 percent of the charges from the electricity bill of its consumers. Delhi has already been practicing such kind of schemes to their citizens.

Mind you, these States are non-BJP ruled who do not even receive a considerable amount of financial assistance from the centre. And this is the reason why we need to have educated representatives for ourselves so that we can enjoy the fruits of good and honest governance.

I sincerely urge our government not to overburden us anymore, but to find out solutions by which we can come through this difficult time. So please I request you to take a leaf from these states so that we can as well breathe a sigh of relief.

Booster dose to Senior Citizens

We appreciate the article "Sr. Citizens break digital barriers......"(Herald Cafe, July 4) by Rahul Chandawarkar. It's really a booster dose to Sr. Citizens, as the ongoing pandemic has forced us to stay indoors.

Thanks and God Bless the providers of such facilities, but the only  drawback is the poor Internet connectivity, especially in rural areas.

May we humbly appeal to higher authorities to work for better facilities, so that the Sr. Citizens enjoy the Digital Portals, without much inconvenience?

We can best offer prayers, God may enlighten their minds and show Concern/care. Live and Let Live.

WHO or who as we all?

The World Health Organization (WHO) is part of the United Nations (UN), working on international public health, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO was established by the UN on April 7, 1948. We are building a better, healthier future for people all over the world working with 194 Member States, across six regions, and from more than 150 offices, WHO staff are united in a shared commitment to achieve better health for everyone, everywhere.

Fair enough, and Yes, I and you respect and the world respects WHO and will, as long as the faith is not lost with the current pandemic testing us all. But, if one follows this virus called Covid-19, WHO or who knows the correct month in 2019, when and where the virus broke? It took few months for WHO to declare as pandemic and we, whom do we believe. The doubt and outcry of USA questioning China, USA in doubt v/s their highest contributions in $. WHO praising India as the best to handle Covid19 then to now 3rd in the world (we who, most felt proud them or prayers are heard scenario). And it goes on and on till date.

WHO declared that the virus is not airborne few months ago - said stay safe by just wearing a mask, social or physical distancing, washing hand with soap for 20 seconds and all of a sudden now; we as who, switch our confused mind to think after hearing or understanding from international media that 'Covid-19 could be airborne virus with droplets flying in the air as scientists are working' and now WHO is looking into the same.

A layman will wonder and say... where are the WHO scientists who should proclaim first, that now we the who have to wait anxiously to know what WHO researchers have to say! Yes we the who is confused with WHO as Wikipedia says? Let's wait and watch, in the mean time continue the guidance of WHO...Stay safe!
