Elected leaders are looting people

Jerry Fernandes

The Narendra Modi led BJP government had come to power at the centre by successfully selling fake dreams of ‘achhe-din’ but today is practically seen giving the most ‘bhure-din’ or horrifying days for the people of this country in Indian history. In fact, the only mission of this government at the centre so far has been not of giving ‘achhe-din’ or fighting poverty but only of harassing the common men by heavily taxing them from all sides and even unleashing mischievous stupid new reforms like GST in the name of improving our Indian economy and taking this country to greater heights.

At least during the British rule, it were those foreigners who were looting Indians but today it’s a shame to see our own elected leaders looting their own people in broad day-light behaving worse than those foreigners or traders of the erstwhile British East Indian Company.

Today, if people are still finding it very hard to live in this country, then that’s because we are being heavily taxed not just on our electricity/water bills, salaries, petrol, gas cylinders, etc but even on our basic needs like our food items, clothes, medicines etc.

Of course, our elected leaders are always heard advising its citizens to make sacrifices at least for the sake of nation building but my question is why don’t they themselves go to make sacrifices first? If they truly love this country, then why do they go to live like ‘Maharajas’ or Kings enjoying the most luxurious life at our cost? Why do they go touring around the world and roaming around in this country in expensive hi-fi luxurious cars instead of them coming in Parliament or attending any other private functions in private buses / trains or bicycles if they really mean business?

I think that our present leaders need to do a lot of answering themselves before telling or advising others on how to make sacrifices to take this nation to greater heights to compete with other nations. Yes, they need to improve the living conditions of every living Indian citizen first, eradicate poverty permanently / completely and then dream of taking this nation to greater heights in the near future instead of still misguiding everyone by shouting those stupid slogans like “Sabke Saath, Sabka Vikaas” for political gains. Long live secular India.
