The IDC land scam, the Regional Plan scam, the IT habitat scam, the SEZ scam, the PWD water tanks scam, the PWD tenders scam, the mega mining scam, the narcotics supply scam, the employment scams and a host of other scams were the previous government’s gifts to the people of Go . Added to this was the arrogance, highhandedness, deceit and “I-care-a-damn” attitude of the entire dispensation, who went all out to try and constitute a government comprising of 4 families. The people of Goa saw through this and booted out this dispensation so badly, that they will stand booted out for a long time to come. R.I.P.

The Goans decided to try an alternative and the present ruling dispensation romped home with a thumping majority. It is true that a large section of the people was wary of the communal tinge attached to this party, but it was felt that an able administrator and a corruption free administration was the need of the hour. 

How we revelled when the new government assured us that the guilty in all the scams of the previous regime would be seen behind bars. Alas! That was not to be! Three years down the line, not a single rogue is convicted. Some small fry has been indicted in the mega mining scam. What a farce! 

We now have a new scam of the previous dispensation. The JICA scam! It was nice to hear some scam-tainted politicians talk about how there should be a thorough investigation and the guilty booked. The CM has recommended a CBI enquiry. Will it take off? Will anybody be booked? Will any heads roll? Will we ever have the pleasure of seeing some rogues/looters behind bars? I hope so but I guess not. Off course my experience gives me the right to be cynical!
