Punish contractor for haphazard hot mixing of Nagoa road

Punish contractor for haphazard hot mixing of Nagoa road

This road works contractor who has undertaken the hot mixing of the road (in the picture) be-tween Nagoa junction and Birla Cross junction deserves an ‘award’ for pathetically leaving this portion of the road incomplete.

Every year citizens demand the attention of the elected representatives regarding the bad condi-tions of roads in the State. However, this year being an election year the government has been proactive to showcase their care for the people and tendered the road hot mixing contracts across the State. One such road that was undertaken is from Nagoa junction to Birla Cross junc-tion near Verna IDC.

As can be seen in the photo, a patch on the road has been left without being hot mixing. The rea-son for this unprofessional work is not known, but the contractor should have completed the work. In view of the Lok Sabha elections which have been announced now and the Model Code of Conduct in force until the results, i.e. June 5, the road cannot be completed until then. As we all know Goa begins to receive rainfall from the first week of June, the work will remain pending.

In the interest of public safety and to ensure that this haphazard work doesn't lead to accidents, the government should undertake the completion of the road with special permission from the Election Commission. At the same time, the contractor should be taken to task for the lethargic execution of the work endangering the lives of the people. The payment should not be released until the road has been completed.
