QUEPEM: The Quepem Citizen Committee has complained about the non-functional streetlights on Curchorem-Quepem road at Kusman, Quepem to the old Quepem Police Station.
Quepem Citizen Committee President Evangelistico Da Costa said that the complaint was submitted to old Quepem Police Station a month back. Even our local councillor complained about this issue to Quepem Electricity Department but nobody is interested or bothered to repair the streetlights.
Da Costa added that the concerned authority never takes this issue with the seriousness it deserves.
Another local from Kusman Salvador Cardozo said that due to absence of streetlights commuting on this route during the night is very risky. Road is very narrow and due to heavy rains, visibility on the road is very poor. Besides, bushes have overgrown on one side of the road. Senior citizens also use this road for walks during early morning or evening. Considering all the facts, the concerned authorities need to repair these streetlights urgently without further delay.
