Many shacks on Sernabatim and Benaulim beaches have closed for the season but sandbags used by them as a buffer against soil erosion are littering many locations. Wave action and high tides pull these further out towards the sea and they present a very ugly sight, people have been known to stumble upon them during their walks. The village panchayats should ask such establishments to remove the debris, failing which they should be blacklisted and not allowed to bid for shack licences for the next season. Such defilement of our pristine beaches should be dealt with firmly.
