MARGAO: All India Congress Committee has heard the views of the leaders with regard to the issue pertaining to party president in Goa, Congress in-charge of Goa Desk, Dinesh Rao said on Wednesday, adding that the decision will be announced shortly.

Speaking to the media at Margao he said people’s views will be taken into consideration before going in for an alliance with other political parties for the 2022 Assembly elections. 

Asked about the change in leadership in Goa, he said that the decision will be taken by the AICC. “At the moment Girish Chodankar is the president and he has to work as the president in Goa. High command has already heard the views of all the concerned leaders pertaining to change in leadership, and hence the decision will be announced very soon,” Rao said. 

Rao said the decision will not be kept on hold for long, till then they will continue with the work assigned by the party. 

“There are people who are meeting Congress, however, the decision of alliance with other parties will be taken by considering the views of the people and Congress workers,” he said. 

He added that Congress wants to know the needs of the people pertaining to the alliance issues. “We need to understand what party leaders want in Goa and accordingly the decision of alliance with other political parties will be taken by the high command,” Rao said. 

He said the party is looking at what is good for Goa. “Good and stable government should be formed in Goa. We will try to reduce the unethical type of politics that has happened in Goa for the last five or six years. Party will try to bring some ethics to Goa politics. The decisions will be taken in the interest of Goa,” he said. 

Rai said they are trying hard to strengthen the party in every constituency and looking out for the best candidates for the next Assembly elections. “Will see to it that the good candidates get the tickets,” he further said.
