MARGAO: Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has denied any interest in contesting the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking on Tuesday he said that he read on the paper that he is going to be the Congress candidate for the parliamentary elections. “Who has spread this rumours?” he asked. He said that he has not applied for the ticket nor requested for it, nor is he interested in contesting the Lok Sabha elections. Faleiro said that he has a lot of work to do in Navelim constituency.

“On the result night, when Digvijai Singh did not allow me to give the letter to the Governor for formation of the government, I sent my resignation from the Pradesh Congress Committee as President and I refused to take the post of Leader of Congress Legislative Party and Leader of the Opposition even though I had the support of 13 MLAs. I refused because I told them I want to work in my constituency,” he said.

Faleiro recalled that some Congress MLAs had promised that they would form the government in 24 hours. “I still have patience that Congress party will form the government but I have not interfered in forming the government,” he added.
