PANJIM: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and two others asking them to remain present before it on Thursday, March 28.

According to sources, the AAP leaders who have been issued the notices included AAP State convenor Adv Amit Palekar and Prof Ramarao Wagh.

Besides, All Goa Liquor Traders' Association President Dattaprasad Naik and Goa Bhandari Samaj President Ashok Naik too have been issued the summons. The summons has been issued under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

There were also reports that AAP leaders have been issued summons in connection with the Delhi liquor scam case.

However, when contacted, Dattaprasad Naik told O Heraldo that he had no idea of the development while Ramarao Wagh confirmed the development saying that he has been called by the ED to appear before it on Thursday morning.

Ashok Naik also said that he had no idea of receiving summons from the agency. He told O Heraldo that he will know only after reaching his Ponda residence whether ED has sent him a notice or not.

“I was in Panjim attending executive meeting of Goa Bhandari Samaj and I had no idea,” he said.

However, Adv Amit Palekar was unavailable for a comment or confirmation related to the development. The leaders have been asked to remain before the ED under the PMLA.

The summons has been issued to the AAP leaders a day after they along with other INDIA Block leaders held a protest at Azad Maidan in the city against the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged liquor scam case.

While Adv Amit Palekar was chief ministerial candidate of AAP in the State assembly elections held in 2022, Ramarao Wagh had contested the assembly elections on AAP ticket from Sant Andre assembly constituency.
