PANJIM: The startups in Goa are waiting for the promises being made by the Start up Promotion Cell (SPC) on reimbursement of several points, which includes “salary reimbursement” for more than a year. Many of them have completed the bureaucratic guidelines and have submitted their request to the government several months ago. They are now bleeding financially as many depended on the promises made in the Start-up Policy.

“On one hand we are a boasting of a being a nation with the highest startups and both central and State governments have launched several initiatives to promote and support startups. But the benefits have not reached us when we most need it. Delay is the deadliest form of denial,” said Rohini Gonsalves, Founder Director of Sevarat Healthcare and Nursing Pvt Ltd.

Managing Partner, Uzoorba Technologies LLP, Chorao, Goa Vincent Toscano said that, “Our two salary reimbursement applications are still under SPC processing since 19 and 13 months despite fulfilling all compliances and dozens of follow-ups.”

Herald contacted the Start-Up Promotion Cell official on this issue who said that, “We have compiled all the incentive applications. In all probability a meeting will be conducted in the first week of December and this high powered committee will be chaired by the chief minister and once this meeting takes place all of them should get their dues within a week. All the issue of start-ups will be settled for sure.”
