PANJIM: Goans from across the state have united against the cop for brutal assault on a youth Edwin Coelho from Navelim who was just clicking a picture and was assaulted until he bleeded and partial turned deaf.

Goans demand his termination not just suspension. Everyone has a question when will Police Sub-Inspector Stanley Gomes get terminated and will Edwin Coelho get justice?

On Monday, when newly appointed DGP for Goa I D Shukla visited South Goa Police quarters, Herald TV questioned about what action he has taken on PSI Stanley Gomes. However, Goa DGP I D Shukla said that he has setup an department inquiry and is looking into the matter, I have told South Goa Superintendent of Police to investigate the matter properly, he added.

Moreover soon, not only Navelim, but Goans across the State are demanding justice for Navelim Youth Edwin Coelho who was assaulted by PSI Stanley Gomes. Today, the people who are appointed for our safety are assaulting us, some of the Goans alleged.

Cousin of Edwin Coelho said that today one who have to protect us only are assaulting us. Is clicking a picture a crime that my brother had to be assaulted in this manner? He was assaulted until he bleeded, his ear was damaged. Today, we condemn this act and demands PSI Stanley Gomes termination.

Another youth from Navelim, Dazy Vaz highlighted the other side of PSI Stanley Gomes, she alleged that Stanley Gomes is like a trouble maker for most of the people, his unwanted interferences, language of talking and becoming a hurdle for the most of the things has always disturbed their peace. She even said he also creates confusions and trouble for any open football tournament.

She said that today Stantley Gomes has not only destroyed our village peace but moreover destroyed a youth’s career. One side people are facing it difficult to make a career and on the other hand the police themselves are destroying people’s career.

Meanwhile, social activist and strong voice from the port town, Xencor Polgi came down heavy on the BJP government and Goa Police.

Slapping someone unnecessary won’t make you star, today the once who have to protect us only are assaulting and treating us this way and what safety can we expect from these cops. Today, even the Chief Minister didn’t make any statement neither demanded action against his own department official. Usually, he wants time to study every matter, how much time he needs to give justice to an innocent Goan youth, he questioned.
