Margao Sounding Board

The ignored potholes at Gandhi Market

With Christmas round the corner, the government has been busy doing up the roads and patching potholes and laying new hot-mix carpets on most of Xaxti roads. But sadly the roads of Gandhi market got no patchwork done nor a hot-mix carpet and the potholes in the Gandhi market are a menace to everybody.

Mini dirt track near Santosh Garage Aquem

The PWD’s negligence is such that there is a water department lid along the road opposite Santosh Garage which has caved in and is a dangerous spot resulting in many accidents. Locals were forced to dump mud and flatten out the dented lid for safety of motorists but this has led to two wheeler users skidding on the mud but the PWD has decided to turn a blind eye on this problem.

BSNL dead and helpline also dead

People in Margao are always sad that their BSNL Internet lines are always down and how BSNL takes ages to fix the line. Most often also the lines are down courtesy to the digging of roads and drains and sewerage works. But this time around, BSNL Margao customer helpline number 2737373 is out of order which means there’s nobody to even complain and this has left Madgavkars fuming.

LED helpline that can’t reach you?

Energy Efficiency Services Limited is a joint venture of NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation and is the ones who have installed the LEDs across Goa who are well known to have installed junction boxes and regulators for their LED Streetlights almost a year after installing the LED lights on lamp posts. To make matters worse, the mostly flickering LED lights have no local contact and one has to make an all India complaint on 1800 233 3949 and report non-working of LED Street light in your area. But sadly when you call it takes them over 20 minutes to identify your exact location or the number itself is unresponsive and people in Pajifond are peeved with their street lights flickering with voltage related issues.

Dog menace in the winter

As the temperature has begun to drop, the homeless doggies in Margao are in need of warm material to sleep on and often end up tearing set covers of two wheelers or even covers of cars of vehicles parked. The increasing dog menace and their midnight howling, barking, vandalising garbage bins and gardens is a massive menace in Fatorda and the city is saddened that there is no respite to the stray dog problem.
