MARGAO: In an yet another major blow to the much discussed multi-level parking project in Margao, with no other option the Margao Municipal Council is forced to re-start the whole process of e-tendering due to the contract given to the concerned agency to maintain the e-tendering site got expired before the bids were open.
After the extended period for the bid got over in the first week of November, MMC was supposed to open the tenders on November 10, but due to technical reasons the civic body was waiting for the IT section of the government to help them to resolve the issue. However, it was too late and the civic body was shocked to know that the contract given to the IT agency expired.
Speaking to Herald Agnelo Fernandes, Chief Officer MMC admitted that with regard to technical issues the civic body would not be able to open the e-tendering bids.
"Now, it has been brought to our notice that the contract given by the government to the concerned IT agency which was maintaining the e-tendering site expired", he stated.
He further said with no other option the civic body has now created another website, and is waiting for the official approval.
"Yes, we have to now re-start the entire process of e-tendering of a multi-level parking project which was almost delayed", said CO.
Reportedly, at the first attempt not a single bidder has shown interest in the project, and therefore the civic body was forced to extend the period by another 15 days. And now, the procedural issues have forced the council to start the process afresh.
