Children Court under staffed

While workload of the Children Court has increased, there has been no corresponding increase in its staff strength.
Repeated requests for more staff has not yielded any results and President of Children Court was compelled to write a letter to the High Court to inform about increased work load and it be given more staff.
Our sources said, while earlier Court proceedings were held only on Mondays and Fridays -- now Court take sittings also on Wednesday. Working days for Children’s court were increased as number of cases increased but then the number of staff has remained static.
“We have been continuously asking for more staff but there’s been no response from the government,” said our sources. When one of the staff members is on leave it affects our working in fact, we can’t even take leave. Recently, a relative of one of our staff members died but he was unable to take leave, the sources said.
