QUEPEM, APRIL 6
South Goa Collector G P Naik has issued a notification prohibiting mining traffic along the Quepem-Curchorem road from April 7 to April 10.
In his notification issued on Tuesday, Naik stated that mining traffic has been prohibited along the Quepem-Curchorem road from April 7 to April 10 due to the ongoing SSC exams.
It may be recalled that the collector had earlier issued a notification on March 31 prohibiting mining traffic from plying along the accident-prone route till April 4.
The public was unhappy over this temporary deadline and had organized an agitation to block mining traffic on Monday, to demand a permanent ban of mining traffic along the route.
This new notification will come as a major blow to the truck operators, who had convened a meeting in Quepem Bazar on Monday to express their determination to resume ore transportation from April 7.
