Taking strong objection to the proposed plan of Planning and Development Authority (PDA) to develop plots for residential purpose, residents during Queula gram sabha on Sunday passed a unanimous resolution asking PDA to give preference to locals in the allotment of plots.
It may be recalled that in 1991, PDA had acquired land of about 10,000 sq mtrs at Kate-Dhavli. Subsequently, PDA undertook administrative process to develop the land for residential project.
“The project dates back to 1991 and the file was approved after consent from the then panchayat. During the last panchayat term, when I was the sarpanch, the file again came to the panchayat for final approval. It was then presented to the gram sabha and after villagers objected, we did not approve it,” said former sarpanch and present Panch Rajesh Kavlekar.
“Now, the file has again come to the panchayat for final approval and even if we, considering gram sabha’s decision, do not give consent, it will be done subsequently as they have all the necessary permissions. So villagers have decided to ask PDA to give preference to villagers and the decision is duly supported by the panchayat,” he added.
The gram sabha on Sunday, which was scarcely attended, only had PDA issue which came up for discussion after one gram sabha member Shyam Satarkar submitted written complaint to the proposed project of the PDA.
“We fear losing our village serenity once this project comes. We don’t even know what type of residential project will come up and whether our villagers could afford to buy houses there. The PDA must clarify on this before going ahead with the project,” said Satarkar.
