Gujarat to celebrate golden jubilee

PANJIM, APRIL 6 The Gujarat government has planned to have golden jubilee celebration on completion of fifty-years of its statehood. A year-long celebrations has been planned beginning from May 1 with participation of Gujarati people spread across the country.

The Gujarat government has planned to have golden jubilee celebration on completion of fifty-years of its statehood. A year-long celebrations has been planned beginning from May 1 with participation of Gujarati people spread across the country.
Glittering ceremonies will begin from April 29 with main function planned on May 1. Gujarat which was earlier part of Maharashtra got status of a separate State in 1960.
The Minister of Gujarat Government Anandiben Patel was in Goa along with a high level delegation to meet Gujarati samaj here and also to invite Goa Government to attend the gala event.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday here she said according to the vision of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, high level delegations are touring different States, meeting people of Gujarat, explaining them about the importance and glory of the event.
Our delegation has met the president of Gujarat Samaj here. “We have him to bring water from the river and soil to be used for constructing the Mahatma mandir (Mahatma temple) at Gandhinagar.” she said.
As part of its golden jubilee celebration the Gujarat government has launched various programmes such as the Read Gujarat Mission to nurture the emotional bonding with Gujarati language, she said.
The celebration is also aimed to expedite the development of Gujarat, she added.
