The Corporation of the City of Panaji in partnership with Prakash Art Private Limited, Hyderabad will be constructing a footbridge over the road near Sharda Mandir School, Miramar.
Sources said that this is going to be the first ever footbridge on PPP mode in the state and the work will begin in next ten days.
“Everything is set. The agreement was signed during the tenure of former Mayor Tony Rodrigues. The Prakash Art will begin its work from next week and by middle of May the footbridge will be ready,” sources said.
The sources said that the entire cost of the footbridge Rs 30 lakhs will be invested by the Prakash Art and in-turn, CCP has assured 10 years exclusive advertisement rights to the company.
Recently, the company has been issued construction licenses from CCP.
The corporation has also written a letter to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority over the construction.
“During the pick hour it becomes very difficult for people to cross the road and especially small children find it trick to go to their car, which is parked on the other side of the school,” sources said.
“The corporation wants to give a nice surprise to the students when they come back from their summer holidays, hence we decided to begin the work during holidays,” sources said.
