MARGAO, APRIL 6
The Mull Goenkaranchi Songhottna has urged members of the Scheduled Tribes to accurately register themselves with the Registering Authority and help avail various government schemes without any problems.
The Songhottna has decided to educate its members regarding their registration as Scheduled Tribes at the time of National Population Census as the Community is still under the impression that they still belong to the Other Backward Class (OBC).
“There is a conception that the survey of the Scheduled Tribes is wrong and needs to be corrected. To arrive at the correct figures of ST population, the members of Gawda, Kunbi and Velip communities should register themselves correctly when the registering personnel visit their houses. If the registration is done according to the status, then the census would automatically rectify the data. Otherwise, there is every danger of sabotage and mismanagement”, stated spokesman of the MGS, Vincy Quadros.
