Teachers come under one banner to fight for their rights

MARGAO, APRIL 5 Teachers from primary, secondary, higher secondary and vocational streams have joined together under the banner of United Teachers Forum to get their pending grievances resolved with the government.

Teachers from primary, secondary, higher secondary and vocational streams have joined together under the banner of United Teachers Forum to get their pending grievances resolved with the government.
The UTF has resolved to unitedly continue with the struggle and press their demand for the implementation of Part B scales of VI Pay scales and other pending issues.
President of Rajya Prathmik Shikshak Sangh K T Kavalekar, President of AGSSTA Vithoba Dessai, President of HISTAG Girish Chodankar and president of vocational teachers Anthony Alvares had a joint meeting at Margao recently and vowed to continue the struggle against the government to resolve their pending demands under the banner of United Teachers Forum.
An action committee of UTF was formed with Chairman Girish Chodankar, spokesperson Vithoba Dessai, vice Chairman K T Kavalekar and Anthony Alvares. The members of the UTF are Nelly Rodrigues, Suresh Naik, Kissan Fadate, Dattatray Naik, Bharat Naik, Sambhaji Raut and Meghasham Palekar.
UTF spokesperson Vithoba Dessai informed that the associations had earlier requested the government to implement Part B.
Dessai further informed that the government has implemented Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPS) to all their employees whereby three automatic upgradations are assured to them.
Girish Chodankar said that all teachers’ associations have come together for the first time in Goa to champion the common cause of teachers. The unity and solidarity of teachers of this State shall be utilized to avail best service conditions for the teaching community, he said, adding that the delegation of UTF held three sittings with the Chief Minister and officers from the Finance Department. He said that the Chief Minister and the officials have been convinced and a positive announcement is expected very soon.
