VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar on Monday appealed to the people to elect BJP candidates in the May 7 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a corner meeting at the Vasco taxi stand in support of party’s South Goa Parliamentary Constituency candidate Pallavi Dempo, Salkar said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned turning Vasco da Gama Railway Station into a truly international destination. The work of updating this railway station has already started. Not only taxis, auto-rickshaws and motorcycle pilots will get good business once the number of national and international tourists increase, the overall financial status of Vasco as a business hub will also skyrocket. I fear the facilities may be inadequate, and hence more opportunities will be available for locals. Therefore, there is a need to bring back such a visionary leader at the Centre. Hence, everyone should vote for Pallavi Dempo and strengthen Modiji.”
Members of taxi traders' association, rent-a-cab association, rickshaw association and yellow and black motorcycle pilots association were present for the meeting.
Stating that taxi drivers, rent-a-cab professionals, auto drivers and motorcycle pilots come in contact with many people every day, Salkar appealed to them to ask their clients to vote for Pallavi and re-elect Modi.
Pallavi Dempo highlighted various development works undertaken by the BJP government in the State and appealed to taxis, rent-a-cabs, and Vasco residents to vote for the BJP.
Adv Sawaikar said that people of Vasco have been supporting the BJP for a long time. Now, it is time to once again strengthen the hands of the local MLAs and press the lotus button for the development of Vasco.
Poriem MLA Deviya Rane said that BJP’s South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo is getting an immense response in Vasco and expressed confidence that Pallavi will be elected with a huge mandate from every Assembly constituency in South Goa.
