Kejriwal reaches out to youth with promises of jobs, Skill University

MAPUSA: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said if voted to power, AAP will provide employment to every unemployed youth and 80 per cent of jobs in the private sector will be reserved for Goan youth.

Kejriwal also announced that Rs 3,000 per month will be given to a youth from each household till they get employment while, Rs 5,000 would be provided monthly to families, who lost employment due to tourism and mining shutdown. He added that the government will establish a Skill University in Goa to empower the youth and make them job providers and not job seekers on the lines of Delhi’s DSEU.

Addressing the media at Mapusa, Kejriwal made seven announcements for the Goan youth, described by AAP as a second guarantee to Goa after providing free electricity up to 300 units to every family, free electricity to farmers, waive off old bills and provide 24x7 electricity supply under the party’s first guarantee.

Kejriwal said, “Goan youth are disturbed since they don’t have jobs. Educated as well uneducated people do not have jobs in Goa. Also the COVID-19 pandemic affected the youth as many lost their jobs while businesses are closed down due to pandemic and income has stopped.”

To generate employment opportunities, a government which will work honestly and with good intention is required, he said.

“One Goan unemployed youth from every household will get a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 till he or she gets job,” he said.

Also 80 per cent jobs will be reserved for Goan youth in the private sector by enacting legislation, he added.

Kejriwal said every household dependent on tourism and mining industry and whose income is affected will be given a remuneration of Rs 5,000 till their income source is restored.  

Kejriwal announced that an AAP government will open a Skill University providing skill training to the youth passing their higher secondary education. Training will be provided until the youth gets at least one job in his or her pocket.
