Team Herald

The Meteorological Center (IMD) in Goa has issued a weather warning for the state, indicating that hot and humid conditions will prevail in isolated areas on April 29th and 30th. However, overall weather conditions are expected to remain fine, with temperatures under control across both the North Goa and South Goa districts.

Over the past 24 hours, no heatwaves were recorded with the state experiencing the maximum temperature in the range of 33-35 degrees Celsius over North & South Goa districts.

On the other hand, a high wave warning from INCOIS was reported on Monday. It is forecasted that the sea will be dominated by high-energy swell waves in the nearshore region and the low-lying areas may experience surges (gushing of sea water into these near shore/beach areas) intermittently during 17:30 hours (IST) from 29th April to 23:30 hours (IST) of 30th April due to the combined effect of the high period (16-21 sec) swell waves, having 0.5 - 1.0 m height, especially during high tides and Spring Tide phases.

Maximum temperature is very likely to be in the range of 33-35 degrees Celsius over North & South Goa districts for the next 7 days; No Large Change in maximum temperature for the next 5 days. No significant change in Relative Humidity & Wind speed is expected during the next 7 days. The heat index is expected to be below 40 degrees Celsius during the next 7 days

In both districts, the weather is very likely to be dry from 29th April to 5th May 2024. There’s likely to be haze in the morning at isolated places on the 29th and 30th of April.  No big changes in maximum temperature during the next 5 days will be seen in North and South Goa districts, the IMD Panjim reported.
