Mormugao Municipal Council has cleared the overhead data wires at Swatantra Path before Shigmotsav. The overhead wires were posing a potential threat to the Shigmotsav parade as well as the common commuters.
This situation might slow down the Shigmotsav parade and therefore MMC have assured the public to clear the work intertwined dangling wires on an immediate basis.
As Goa commemorates the celebration of Shigmotsav, Vasco gears up for its Shigmo parade that will be held on 3rd April 2024 at Swatantra Path. The fourteen-day lone Shigmotsav festival is set to start from 24th March and continue till 8th April. Many towns host processions that feature both contemporary and traditional floats. The floats include a marvellous display of an array of Goan Folk dances and their culture.
“For so many years the performing groups face a lot of difficulty while performing with the large coloured flags, artificial swords, and other festive items. These long items often get tangled up with the data wire cables. So to ease this problem and to make Swatantra Path a beautiful place we have taken this initiated under the Vasco MLA” said Shami Salkar, MMC Councillor
