Fatorda Police Arrests Notorious Thief Cheema Paul in Rs 50 Lakh House Break-in; Accomplice Apprehended, Stolen Gold Recovered

Fatorda police made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a high-value house burglary as they apprehended 29-year-old notorious criminal Cheema Paul along with his accomplice, Arjun Dessai. The arrests are connected to a Rs 50 lakh theft case in Fatorda. Cheema, known for his involvement in numerous house break-ins across Goa, was captured in Nagpur by a team led by PSI Amin Naik, while Arjun was detained in Margao, as confirmed by Fatorda PI Ditendra Naik. The police have filed charges against the duo under Sections 454, 457, and 380 of the Indian Penal Code. The burglary targeted the residence of Debra Fernandes on December 4, where gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakhs were stolen. Fortunately, law enforcement has successfully recovered a significant portion of the stolen items. Cheema, originally from Cansaulim and presently residing in Bicholim, was identified as a suspect due to the striking similarities between this theft in Fatorda and a previous housebreaking case in Curchorem for which he was previously arrested. According to the complaint, unidentified individuals forcibly entered flat no. 203 in the B block of Magnolia Building in Fatorda by breaking the main door lock. The stolen gold ornaments, stored in separate pouches belonging to the complainant, her sister, and brother-in-law, were taken from a cupboard. Fatorda PI Ditendra Naik mentioned the involvement of the dog squad and fingerprint experts in the investigation, leading to the arrest of the alleged culprits. Approximately fifty percent of the stolen property has been recovered, and investigations are ongoing. Both accused were presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Margao, with a five-day remand secured for further investigation.
