Pernem locals have come together to voice their strong opposition to the proposed theme park project. The residents argue that the park will not provide substantial benefits to the community and emphasize the need for the government to prioritize essential services such as electricity and water in the taluka.

The State government has granted permission to a Pune-based real estate firm to establish the theme park in Pernem. However, the project has sparked a wave of discontent among the local residents. They believe that allocating resources and attention to larger-scale projects, like the proposed theme park, should only come after addressing pressing community needs.

The concerned residents have taken the initiative to form a committee dedicated to opposing the theme park. Their primary objective is to raise awareness about the potential drawbacks of the project and advocate for the government to reconsider its decision. The committee aims to highlight the importance of prioritizing necessities that directly impact the quality of life for the local population.

To facilitate public participation and address citizens' concerns, the industries department has provided a 30-day window for objections to be raised regarding the project. This opportunity allows individuals and organizations to voice their opinions and provide valuable input that will be taken into account during the decision-making process.

The proposed mini-India theme park is planned to be developed on privately owned land spanning an area of 97,224 square meters. The chosen location is near the Manohar International Airport in Mopa, adding to the concerns raised by the residents. They fear potential environmental impacts and increased congestion in the area, among other issues.

It now remains to be seen how the State government and the real estate firm will address the concerns raised by the local residents. The outcome of this debate will not only determine the fate of the proposed theme park but also reflect the government's commitment to addressing the immediate needs of the community.
