Rohit Monserrate secured his fourth consecutive term as the mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji, while Sanjeev Naik maintained his position as Deputy Mayor for the third consecutive term. Both Monserrate and Naik were unopposed in their re-election. Nominations were submitted on Tuesday, and their victory was confirmed on Wednesday.


Soon after his victory Monserrate said, as the mayor of the city, we will continue with all the work we started initially and we will be prioritising the reconstruction of the CCP building. We want to make CCP self-sufficient in regards with the finances. There are a lot of CCP property which need special attention, like National theatre, Panjim market and we will be prioritise to take up these issues first.  


Monserrate further asserted that, we are making good progress in settling all the litigation issues of the properties. We are working on the third phase of the market and want to on notional theatre, as well. 


Monserrate even assured that no increased tax will be imposed on residents of Panjim, where as he assured that completion of these projects will be very helpful in generating revenue for the city. 


Mayor further lamented that the CCP is bearing losses amounted to approximately 3 crores each month. He further appealed and requested people to pay their property taxes so as to cope up with the loss. 


When asked about Smart City work progress he pointed fingers towards the authorities claiming that none of the smart city project has been legally handed over CCP. He even said that everyone associates smart city work with CCP which is not correct.
