ANC Raids Hydroponic Cannabis Plantation in Borim, Arrests Main Accused

A major Hydroponic Cannabis Plantation was dismantled on Friday in Borim, Ponda, Goa by the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa Police. The operation resulted in the apprehension of the primary suspect, identified as Yuvraj Borkar, aged 31 and a resident of Borim, Ponda.

 

During the raid, ANC seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances from Borkar's possession, including:

 

150 grams of Hydroponic Weed.

1 kilogram of Ganja.

15 grams of MDMA.

 

The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at a staggering Rs 8.50 Lakhs. An official case has been registered under ANCPS Crime No. 07/2024, invoking sections 20(b)(ii)(B) & 22(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

 

Modus Operandi Revealed:

Preliminary investigations by the ANC uncovered the intricate modus operandi employed by the accused. It was revealed that Borkar imported cannabis seeds from an international website and cultivated them using hydroponic methods in the basement of his residence in Borim, Ponda. Additionally, modified LED lights were seized, indicating their use in facilitating the cultivation process.

 

The raid was executed by LPSI Priyanka Garodi, accompanied by ANC PS Panaji personnel, under the astute guidance of PI ANC Sajith Pillai and DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SP ANC Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
