AIFF Academy down Dempo SC

DULER: AIFF put up a spirited  performance and registered a 2-0 victory over Dempo SC in the U-18 I-League match played at Duler stadium, here on Sunday.

Both the goals were scored in the second session of play.

It was AIFF who had the first crack at the rival goal when in the 19th minute Abuthaheer ran into the Dempo danger zone and unleashed a power packed shot which sailed inches past the target.

Couple of minutes later AIFF keeper Mohd Haroon came with a brilliant save to push away Boris Jesus De Melo’s curling corner kick.

In the 41st minute of play Raghav Gupta saw his shot from the edge of the 18-yard box sail just past the Dempo goal.

In the injury minutes of the first half Dempo keeper did well to get his hands to Lalliansanga header off Naorem Singh cross.

Changing ends Dempo almost broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute of play, however Desmon Pereira failed to score from handshaking distance.

It was AIFF who shot into the lead in the 60th minute of play when substitute Edmund Lalrindika danced his way past the Dempo defenders and drilled in a low grounder which brushed the hands of the keeper before rolling into the nets, 1-0.

Eight minutes into the match AIFF doubled their lead when Edmund once again got the better of the defenders and sent the ball towards Naorem Roshan Singh who tapped the ball home making it 2-0.
