Aarav shines as Warriors annihilate St Jude’s Betalbatim
MARGAO: Aarav Coutinho showed his prowess in front of goal as his clinical finishing helped the Warriors annihilate St Jude's Betalbatim by 6-3, in the second round of the 1st Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League powered by Nave Marg Foundation and organised by Youth Futsal Academy, on Saturday.
MARGAO: Aarav Coutinho showed his prowess in front of goal as his clinical finishing helped the Warriors annihilate St Jude's Betalbatim by 6-3, in the second round of the 1st Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League powered by Nave Marg Foundation and organised by Youth Futsal Academy, on Saturday.
Aarav Coutinho scored a double hatrick and was rightly judged the man-of –match while Shane Ferrao with a brace and Johann Fernandes were the scorers for St Jude's.
In match 6 of the league, Youth Futsal Academy gave their much fancied opponents Loyola High school margao a run for their money as they took the lead when a Loyola defender accidentally turned the ball into his own net from a goal mouth milee.
There after YFA captain Vardaan Pathania and his defensive partner Keyaan Kuknoor defended with tremendous courage as they stopped wave after wave of the Loyola attack.
Loyola finally got the equaliser on the brink of half time after a mix up in defense allowed Sohan Fernandes to poke the ball home.
Loyola took the lead in the second half thru Jonathan Fernandes and any fight back that YFA put up was finally over when man-of –match Sohan Fernandes completed his brace with a neat placement.
Thereafter, The King's School pitted against Manovikas E.M.S. The Kings school fresh from a 9-2 victory in the previous round came all guns blazing but Manovikas goalkeeper Evan Souza Ferrao had different ideas as he made save after save to frustrate the The Kings's School attack line even saving a penalty in the process.
His heroics thou couldn't assure his team victory as The Kings School ultimately prevailed by 4-1, Ethan Da Silva with a brace, Aryaman Jain and Leandro D'costa scored for Kings while Axel Demello scored for Manovikas.
Evan was adjudged the man-of –match for making twenty wonderful saves.
Regina Martyrum Assolna edged past Marina English Verna by 2-1. man-of –match Tanish Simoes scored a brace for the winners and Joel Monteiro scored the consolation for Marina.
In the final match of the round 2 Perpetual Succour Convent Navelim managed to hold of a fight back from Neighbours Rosary Navelim edging them by 4-3. Perepetual took a comfortable 2-0 lead at the lemon break thru Mohammed Shaikh and Valen Plyson Vaz. Sakib made it 3-0 early in the second half before Sidhesh got one back for Rosary.
