SANGOLDA: Albert Developers, Merces edged past Monti Veterans, Benaulim,1-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the Monte de Guirim Platinum Jubilee Veterans Football Tournament being played at Sangolda panchayat grounds.
Both teams were evenly matched and played possession football with short crisp passes, but failed to penetrate the rival defences. After going into the lemon break goalless, the Benaulim defence was caught flat by Praksah Chari who latched onto a defence splitting through pass from Shekar Shirodkar to shoot past Goalkeeper Manoj Kesarkar and give Albert Developers a meeting with Margao Veterans in the quarter-finals.
