Assolda, Bardez Veterans, FAG to play for cause at KFL 5.0

MARGAO: Arjuna Awardee Bruno Coutinho and his team Bardez Veterans, Assolda Veterans, FC Goa Coaches, Futsal Association of Goa and 16 other teams will participate in a 7-a-side football league to raise funds for Cancer Patient Welfare.

The fifth edition of The King’s School, Margao organized KFL 5.0 is an annual football tournament for its students, parents and ex students. This year’s edition is being played in aid of Cancer Patient Welfare and is themed ‘Striking out cancer.’ The league is also opened up for invitational teams to join the cause and will in turn hosts veterans from Bardez, Assolda, teams from Futsal Association of Goa, FC Goa Coaches team and 16 other teams from April 24 to 26. The tournament will be held at The King’s School football ground, Sao Jose de Areal.

Arjuna Awardee Bruno Coutinho will open the event on day one as chief guest while local FC Goa star players Liston Colaco, Princeton Rebello and Savior Gama will be guest on all three days at the event. The event has been conceptualized by the King’s School chairman Melvin Pereira and Director Ligia Pereira while organizer Mario Gomes will be in charge of the daily proceedings of the league.

The league of 30 games will be played from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. under floodlights and the entire proceeds will go towards cancer patient’s welfare, an endeavor of The King’s School. 

The school till date has generated over Rs 1.5 crores in the last seven years assisting over 250 cancer patients across Goa.
