Assolda Veterans win shoot-out
CAVELOSSIM: Assolda Veterans knocked out Fatorda Veterans 3-1 via the tie- breaker to enter the semi-finals of 1st all Goa late Joseph Alves Veterans soccer organised by Cavelossim Villagers forum, at Father Drustian Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Tuesday.
In the first half, Assolda dominated the game and kept their opponents on the defensive foot. Assolda’s Peter Pacheco hit the crossbar twice in the 10th and 16th minutes.
In the second half, Fatorda Veterans made all efforts to break the dead lock but Francis Andrade's powerful shot was punched out by the Assolda keeper Benny Fernandes. Later, Assolda’s Rosario Carvalho could have scored for his team but failed to capitalise on a perfect pass created by Bobby Crasto.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Assolda Veterans turned out to be better shooters.
