Augustias SC stun Calangute in shoot-out
MAPUSA: Augustias Sports Club stunned their opponents Calangute Association Sports Club via sudden death by 15-14 margin to advance into the quarter-finals of the Milagres Soccer Cup, organised by Milagres Sports Club, at Duler Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Calangute’s medio Aiken Dias put his team ahead in the 25th minute with a power-packed right footer from outside the penalty box.
On crossing over, Augustias went all out in search of the equaliser which they managed to get in the 65th minute through Akshay Shirodkar who dribbled past a host of rival defenders and scored with a neat placement to make it 1-1.
Both the teams tried their best to score the match winner but failed with the attempts that were created.
With the match ending in a 1-1 draw the winners were decided via tie-breaker which ended in a sudden death with Augustias winning it by 14-13 margin.
