Bamborda get the better of Poriebhatt
MATHOL-VERNA: Bamborda got the better of Poriebhatt 3 -2 via the tie breaker to move into the semi-final of late Lazaro D’Silva and Caje Fernandes memorial inter-ward football tournament, at Mathol football ground, Verna, on Tuesday.
Both the teams started the game on a fast pace, Bamborda’s Daniel Da Costa powerful shot from outside the box hit the Poriebhat crossbar and went out of play in 10th minute.
In the second half, Bamborda goalkeeper came up with two good saves in the 25th and 27th minutes.
Later Poriebhatt’s Wilson and Cristo De Melo missed chances in 29th and 31st minute respectively.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Bamborda scored through Daniel Da Costa, Aliston Carvalho and Jaison Moniz while Cristo De Mello and Nessisedede Moniz netted for Poriebhatt.
Bamborda will now meet Povosao Boys in the semi-final on April 26.
