Betalbatim SC win shoot-out
UTORDA: Betalbatim SC beat Navelim Sporting Club via sudden death 7-6 to move into quarters-finals of the 26th Lourdes festival all-Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Bernard Custodio D’Souza organised by United Club of Utorda in association with Sports Authority of Goa, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Sunday.
Betalbatim SC drew first blood through the boots of Oliver D'Souza as he intercepted a long range pass after the goalkeeper miscalculated his move and Oliver pumped a powerful long shot into the net.
Navelim Sporting fortified the moves and Preston Costa capitalized on a loose ball to equalise in the 28th minute.
Post resumption, Betalbatim SC changed the strategy and in the 47th minute Alaric D’Cunha increased the tally.
Navelim’s Avlon Gomes equalised in the 58th minute through a defensive lapse.The score at the final whistle was 2-2.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Betalbatim SC emerged winners.
