Calangute blank Viva North
MAPUSA: Calangute Veterans booked their spot into the final of the All Goa Veterans soccer after a fluent 3-0 win over Viva North Veterans, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, at Saligao ground, on Friday.
MAPUSA: Calangute Veterans booked their spot into the final of the All Goa Veterans soccer after a fluent 3-0 win over Viva North Veterans, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, at Saligao ground, on Friday.
Calangute broke the lead in the early 9th minute of play when Shailesh Miskin postioned himself perfectly inside the Viva North goal area to tap the ball home, 1-0.
After some midfield action Calangute doubled their lead when Allwyn Fernandes sent a long throw-in towards Shailesh who slammed the ball into the back of the nets, 2-0.
In the closing minutes of the first half Augustine Rodrigues put Calangute up by three goals when he danced his way into the Viva North danger zone before firing in a low grounder, 3-0.
Changing ends Viva North pressed hard to claw their way back into the match, however Calangute foiled their efforts time and again.
Calangute veterans will take on Albert Developers in final slated to be held on April 1.
