NAGOA: Castelwaddo Boys defeated Santacruz Boys 1-0 to move into the semi- finals of the  Nagoa Panchayat inter-ward football tournament, played at Nagoa Panchayat ground, Verna, on Saturday .

Santacruz’s  Myson Faria should have netted the first goal of the match in the third minute but to the latter’s dismay Joevin Fernandes of Castelwaddo foiled his move. 

Castelwaddo had a great chance through Glaston Braganza’s long range shot which was about to dip into the Santacruz net but a timely clearance from Peter Gama of Santacruz from the goal-line in the 23rd minute was the best one of the first half.

As the match progressed in the second half, Castelwaddo Boys changed the game plan by fielding Franky Cruz and substitute Milton Colaco on the forward line and the goal scoring set-piece of Franky to Milton Colaco earned them the match winner as Milton dribbled past Socorro Faria, Ambert Gama from the Santacruz defence line and foxed Glen Faria the keeper of Santacruz and slammed in to score the match winning goal in the 65th minute.

In another match, Pimpawaddo Boys edged Santbolem Boys 2-1 to move into the semi-final. Flyson netted a brace for Pimpalwaddo in the 4th and 6th minute while Akesh pulled a goal back for Santbolem in the 56th minute.
