Compassion FC, Dempo, Churchill register wins

PANJIM: Compassion FC and Dempo Sports Club recorded easy wins in their respective encounters of the Goa Football Association U-14 League Ilhas Zone matches on Tuesday.

While Compassion FC eased their way past Fr Agnel Youth Center Pilar 3-0, Dempo SC thumped Don Bosco Oratory Panjim 12-0.

At the Fr. Agnel’s ground, Pilar, the Compassion FC scored through Stanford Colaco in the first half while Sitroy Carvalho scored the second goal. 

The Fr. Agnel’s team tried their best but Mohamed Khan under the Compassion goal brought off some excellent saves to keep the Pilar boys from scoring. 

The orphanage and Slum boys from different parts of Goa who are playing for the first time in the league scored once again to secure three full points from the second goal scored by Stanford Colaco to complete the tally.

Golden Eagles’ Leethan Silviera scored a first half hat-trick to help Dempo SC record the big win at DBO ground. ASwin Costa opened the scoring in the third minute and Topon Midji doubled the account in the 4th minute.

Then came Leethan, who smashed in three goals in the span of nine minutes thus taking Dempo’s tally to 5-0 in the 18th minute. Vaibhav Naik added the sixth before Leethan Silveira added another in the 23rd minute. Rabi scored the team’s eight goal just before the breather.

In the second half, Asmon Viegas and Hansel Oliveira added a goal each before Rabi P completed his hat-trick scoring two more goals in the 58th and 61st minutes.

Meanwhile, at Artificial Turf ground, Ave Maria Athletic and Welfare Club and Raia Football Club played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Ave Maria led 1-0 at the break, with Mo Shahil scoring the first in the 27th minute. Crossing over, Ave Maria doubled the account through Rosmen Fernandes. However, Raia FC played all out and netted two goals through Deep Paswan and Joshua Oliveira.

In another match played at Cavelossim ground, Churchill Brothers FC made the light work of Sirvodem SC.

The winners led 3-0 with Saish Gaonkar, Shyane Afonso and Dickson Fernandes scored  a goal each in the first half of the play to give his side a deserving three-goal lead. Crossing over, Sirvodem SC played a better football and conceded just a goal as Ismail Shaikh scored the fourth for Churchill Brothers.
