Cortalim Villagers face off against Sesa FA today

In another tie, Sporting Clube de Goa will meet Mumbai City FC

PANJIM: Cortalim Villagers face off against Sesa FA, runners-up of Goa Professional league, while Sporting Clube de Goa, Goa Pro League winners will take on the might of Indian Super League winners Mumbai City FC in the group stage of inaugural Bhausaheb Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, on Tuesday, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. 

This historic tournament, a tribute to Goa’s first chief minister begins with two high-stakes matches, wherein Cortalim Villagers and Sesa FA will kick off at 4 pm, while Sporting Clube will face Mumbai City, at 7.30 pm.

Six Goan teams including Goa Professional League favourites Sporting Clube de Goa, Sesa FA, and Dempo SC will battle for the trophy. 

They will face fierce competition from national powerhouses Kerala Blasters and Mumbai City FC, along with rising stars who’ve earned their places through qualifying rounds.

GFA President Caitano Fernandes said, “We are all set to host the first edition of this historic tournament. The qualifiers have been conducted to confirm the final draw and I’m looking forward to the group stage matches.”

He continued, “We have six Goan teams, and two outstation teams in this inaugural edition. The tournament will be the biggest tournament in Goa and we have further plans to invite international teams as well.”

“I wish the best of luck to all eight of the participating teams in the 10-day tournament,” concluded the president.
