Cuncolim Union storm into quarters

CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Union beat Dicarpale Sports Club by a 2-0 deficit to storm into the quarter-finals of the all-Goa Cuncolim Union Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Government village school ground, Cuncolim, on Wednesday.

CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Union beat Dicarpale Sports Club by a 2-0 deficit to storm into the quarter-finals of the all-Goa  Cuncolim Union Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Government village school ground, Cuncolim, on Wednesday. 

Both the teams showed the attacking intent as a result there were many thrilling moments at either end. Cuncolim Union asserted their supremacy in midfield as they fired a couple of shots against the rival goal.

Both the teams failed to find the net as they went into the breather.

 Cuncolim Union dominated and got their breakthrough in the 40th minute when striker Rosario Carvalho punished the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish off a Bharat Gaonkar through pass.

Spurred by the lead, Cuncolim Union showed more urgency with their forwards who tormented the rival defence. 

Dicarpale Sports Club had their share of chances and looked to score the equaliser when Cliffton Rebello picked the ball from his own half and his snap shot was well blocked by the Cuncolim Union goalkeeper.

Cuncolim Union sealed the rival fate in the 49th minute as Treyson  D’Costa 's volley found the roof of the net of Ashpro Pinto pass to book their place in the quarter-finals.
