SAO JOSE DE AREAL: Curtorim Gymkhana defeated SCC Loutolim 2-0 to enter the final of the Areal Panchayat Cup Inter Village Football Tournament organised by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club and played at Padribhat ground on Thursday.
Curtorim Gymkhana’s Milagres Fernandes was the star of the match while Doyal Alves excelled for SCC Loutolim. In the first-half both teams gave their best in front of 800-odd spectators making it very difficult to predict the winner.
Daren Gomes of Loutoulim missed a chance to score in the 8th minute. Two minutes later, Milagres Fernandes of Curtorim shot wide with the goalkeeper at his mercy.
In the second half Curtorim Gymkhana changed the game plan and succeeded to find the net. Milagres Fernandes and Aliston Fernandes netted a goal each for Curtorim Gymkhana in the 17th and 52nd minutes respectively.
Doyal Alves of Loutoulim received the best player of the match award from Andrew Ferraro, football promoter of Velsao and president of CAC Cansaulim.
