Damodar HSS clinch State U-19 hockey championship
MARGAO: Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi –Paroda thrashed Fr Agnel Higher Secondary School, Pilar 7-1 to emerge State champs of the U-19 boys State hockey championship organized by Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs.
Damodar HSS dominated the entire match and led by a goal scored by Jeetender Kori in the 21st minute of the first session.
Damodar HSS scored six goals in the second session. Nikhil Kalekar scored a hat-trick in the 38th, 39th & 44th minutes. Ishwar Gaonkar & Priston Carvalho added their names to the goal scoring list in the 55th and 58th minutes respectively. Prajyot Gaonkar, Gautam Gaonkar & Sachin Gaonkar excelled in this tournament.
Earlier, Damodar HSS defeated Rosary HSS, Navelim by a comfortable margin of 4-0 goals in the South District final.
Vithoba Gaonkar scored a brace while Jeetender Kori & Nikhil Kalekar scored a goal each.
The State winner team was coached by PE Teachers – Jaikrishna Naik Desai & Laxman Prabhudesai.
