Davorlim edge past PY Nuvem
UTORDA: Sporting Club de Davorlim beat Parish Youth Nuvem by a 1-0 deficit to advance into final of the Lourdes festival all-Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Polly Rodrigues organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG Panjim, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Sunday.

UTORDA: Sporting Club de Davorlim beat Parish Youth Nuvem by a 1-0 deficit to advance into final of the Lourdes festival all-Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Polly Rodrigues organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG Panjim, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Sunday.
Both teams started the game on an attacking note.in the 4th minute, Parish Youth Nuvem made the first move as Agnelo Colaco’s shot hit the rival crossbar, of a fine assist by Stephen Colaco.
In the 8th minute, Sporting Club of Davorlim counter attacked through Agnelo Colaco’s powerful shot but the rival crossbar denied the timely assisted cross made by Mable Miranda.
Nuvem had best chance through Stephen Colaco but he shot the ball straight into the hands of the rival goalkeeper.
Post resumption, Sporting Club of Davorlim sharpened their skills as Agnelo Colaco fired a close range shot in the 39th minute which went into the nylons.
PY Nuvem made several inroads into the rival territory to find equaliser but the Davorlim defender Jodrel Gomes restricted them. Jerose Oliveira of Nuvem had best opportunity in the 45th minute to score but shot the ball wide. Rony Fernandes’ powerful shot was well saved by the Davorlim goalkeeper.
SC Davorlim will now meet San Jose De Areal in finals on December 17.
