Dunes SC blank Candolim SC
MAPUSA: Dunes Sports Club registered a 2-0 over Candolim Sports Club to advance into the semis of the 21st Vagator Soccer Cup, organised by Vagator PYSC, at Ozran ground, on Saturday.
It was Dunes that struck a goal in each session of play.
Though both the teams played almost on equal footing in the first session of play.
Dunes SC scored in the 27th minute when Shashank Achrekar sent a through pass to Anson Lobo who made no mistake to find the net.
On crossing ends Candolim’s Chaitan Dabolkar saw his shot sail past the far post. Minutes later, Aniket Agarwadekar of Candolim saw his shot from close quarters hit the Dunes defender and travel out.
Candolim’s Anthony Fernandes handed the ball inside the penalty box prompting referee Tejas to point to the penalty spot. Shashank Achrekar made no mistake to net in their second goal 2-0.
Anthony Fernandes was shown the red card.
