GOA VELHA: The Goa Football Association (GFA) unanimously approved the statutes of GFA in their Extraordinary General Body Meeting (EGM) at Goa Velha, on Sunday.

The much discussed amendment —availing of Section 80G benefit was unanimously passed on Sunday by the members during the meeting.

Speaking during the meeting, GFA President Elvis Gome said, “The availing of Section 80G will give a benefit of drawing sponsors for the leagues wherein the sponsors can claim intern retain rebates after following proper procedures.”

Gomes explained about the benefit of Section 80G to the members and received no opposition from anyone.

The second issue discussed was the dissolution of the association wherein Gomes explained if any case the association dissolves in future due to any reasons, the funds available to the associations would be transferred to another charitable trust.

The statute read, “In the event of dissolution or winding up of the association, the assets remaining as on the date of dissolution shall under no circumstances be distributed among the members of the association. But the same shall be transferred to another charitable trust or society whose objects are similar to those of the association.”

The statute received no objection from any members too.

The issue of availability of ground was also raised during the meeting wherein Gomes expressed his dissatisfaction over authority concerned for making it difficult for the clubs to avail the facilities.

“There are grounds in Goa, but these (in context to Athletic Stadium,Tilak Maidan and Fatorda Stadium) are not easily available for the clubs and then there are ground which are available but are not up to the mark,” said Elvis further adding that the authority concerned should take care of the stadiums especially the grounds in villages.

The clubs extended their support on the same and also expressed their grievances faced in playing matches on certain substandard grounds.

The meeting further saw few members demanding an all Goa election to elect the committee members, which are currently elected on the basis of North Goa and South Goa.

The members claimed that a uniform election for all would do away with groupism and would help to grow and work uniformly.
