Goa to play Daman & Diu today

PANJIM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) are all set to host the Sub Junior National Football Championship for Boys (West Zone) as Goa take on Daman and Diu in the inaugural match to be played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.

PANJIM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) are all set to host the Sub Junior National Football Championship for Boys (West Zone) as Goa take on Daman and Diu in the inaugural match to be played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.

Altogether six teams – Goa, Daman & Diu, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajhastan and Gujrat -- are participating in the five day tournament which is organised in association with All India Football Federation.

Lavino Rebello chaired the press conference and informed that the five-day tournament will kick-off on August 20, tomorrow at Duler Stadium. 

“The Sub Junior National Championship (West Zone) has six teams wherein Goa, Daman and Diu and Maharastra are in Group A while Madhya Pradesh, Rajastan and Gujrat are in Group B, the season-opener will kick-off at 4 p.m.” Lavino added

GFA General Secretary Welvin Menezes said, “We are all set to host the games and delighted to have the six teams here. On behalf of GFA we would like to wish the teams good luck for the tournament.”

The following is the organising committee for the event. Chairman Lavino Rebello, Deputy Chairman Sanjiv Nagvenkar, Secretary Patrick D’Souza, Joint Secretary Agnelo Albuquerque and Members Domnic Pereira, Franky Viegas, Gaja Kerkar and Santosh Bandodkar.  Lavino Rebello, Welvin Menezes, Organising Joint Secretary Anju, Organising Secretary Anthony John Dçosta, were present for the press conference.
